The Youth Mental Health Crisis in Poland and Solutions

Suicides and suicidal behaviors among Polish youth constitute a serious mental health issue. Every day, at least six teenagers attempt suicide, though the actual scale of the problem may be even larger due to underreporting. Each such incident has far-reaching repercussions, affecting hundreds of people in the surrounding community. Research also points to a high prevalence of suicidal ideation and attempts among students, as well as frequent feelings of loneliness, low self-esteem, and symptoms of depression. At the same time, many young people experience a lack of adequate emotional support—both from their families and their teachers—which further exacerbates their psychological crisis.
